Bel takes root in Brookings

The opening of the new Brookings plant was not simply a technical achievement. Team involvement and transnational collaboration were equally key success factors. The opening of Bel's 28th production site also reflected a strong commitment to the local community, starting with dairy producers first, as Bel signed agreements with two of the largest dairy cooperatives in the US. Next, the Group engaged with local institutions, which co-financed the site's wastewater treatment plant, which also serves the city of Brookings, and it partnered with the dairy engineering program at the University of South Dakota. The site was inaugurated on October 3, 2014 in the presence of Bel Chairman and CEO Antoine Fiévet, the members of Bel's Management Committee, US media organizations, and local government officials, such as South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard, US Senator John Thune, US Representative Kristi Noem, Brookings Mayor Tim Reed, and David Chicoine, University of South Dakota President.
